Guelbenzu Azul is a red wine coupage of the cabernet sauvignon, graciano and syrah varieties made by the Guelbenzu winery in the V.T. Ribera del Queiles in Zaragoza, Spain.
The grapes used to make the Guelbenzu Azul wine come from the Finca La Lombana, in Vierlas, Zaragoza. The plots have fluvial soils composed of gravel and sand and vines with an average age of 20 years old.
After the harvest, the bunches are taken to the winery where they ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for around 15 days. The resulting wine ages for nine months in oak barrels, 50% of which are French and the rest American.
The Vino de la Tierra de la Ribera del Queiles denomination was created in 2003 by the Guelbenzu winery and covers a 22 km strip south of the Ebro river between Navarra, Rioja and Aragón.
