A full bodied wine with medium acidity. Scents of blackberries, bilberries and baked slices. Leaves a lingering taste due to finely balanced tannins.
This wine is a homage to their ancestors, to the grandfather who inspired the family to continue making wine and is made using methods used in the past. Each bottling will contain a different combination of grapes, just as in the past they would have produced wine using whatever grapes were growing on a particular plot.
Hacienda Grimon is run by the Olivans, a family with a long tradition in wine making. Their 25 hectares of vineyards are based in the Valle de Jubera, a secluded and little known corner of Rioja Alta with great viticultural history. Viticulture follows traditional, low intervention methods doing what they have always done, so not using herbicides or pesticides.
