Lopez de Haro:
Grape Variety: Tempranillo
Region: Rioja
A tasty wine, rich in red fruit and liquorice flavours with a sweet tannin structure that leaves a long aftertaste. 3-4 months in new barrels gives the wine added complexity. Located in the historic village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Bodega Classica rises above a sea of vineyards, flanked by the rivers Ebro and Sierra de Toloño. The range of wines called Lopez de Haro are named after the founder of Bilbao. The winery is excavated into the side of the mountain, providing excellent year-round temperature control. The grapes enter the winery with the aid of gravity, this being the least harsh method of moving the grapes. The soils in this region are mostly calcareous clay delivering great acidity to the wine.
Birlocho:
Grape Variety: Verdejo, Sauvignon blanc
Region: Rueda
Light straw colour with strokes of green. Tropical fruit aromas, citrus and remembrances of fennel. In the mouth it is light, fresh and lively with good acidity. Good balance with a long and very pleasant aftertaste. Bodegas Prado Rey, after nearly 30 years making worldwide renowned wines in the Ribera del Duero DO, have acquired a new terroir in the tiny village of La Seca, DO Rueda, where Verdejo and Viura grapes grow unperturbed.
